King Trumpet Mushrooms

This is a great vegetarian dish with tons of flavor that can be used to complement your Asian “not-takeout” dinner that you pick up on the way home.

Ingredients:

  • 3 king trumpet mushrooms

  • Handful of white sesame seeds

  • 4 Tbs maple syrup

  • 4 Tbs dark soy sauce (Sushi Chef)

  • Splash of lemon juice

Directions:

  • Trim ends of mushrooms and use vegetable peeler to remove the outside firmer layer, then cut into 1/3” slices

  • Combine soy sauce and maple syrup to make marinade

  • Place mushrooms and marinade in a Zip Lock bag and refrigerate 30 min – overnight

  • Toast sesame seeds on stovetop and reserve

  • Remove mushrooms from marinade and sautee in butter for 4 min on each side on medium heat

  • Add a splash of lemon juice, then remove from heat

  • Serve with toasted sesame seeds on top
