15 Minute Fondue for 1

I don’t have a fondue pot. And good cheese is expensive, which you gotta have if you are making fondue. So, I decided to use my tiny 1 cup spice heating pan that has a wok-like shape that is wider at the top to avoid wasting cheese (there is a 2 cup size if you want, cost: $10-$15). And, I hate waiting… So quick and flavorful – you will want to eat this every night!

Ingredients:

  • 1 Tbs Butter

  • 1 tsp Garlic paste

  • 1 tsp Shallots – chopped in jar

  • 1 drop of bottled lemon juice

  • Splash of white wine (Pinot Grigo or Savignon Blanc)

  • Black peppercorns – freshly ground

  • Pinch of sea salt (Fleur de Sel or Maldon)

  • ½ cup Gouda cheese – freshly shredded

  • Splash of heavy cream – optional

  • Dipping ingredients (leftover steak, meatballs, ham cubes, baby tomatoes, asparagus, cauliflower, sweet bell peppers)

  • Toothpicks

Directions:

  • Cube your dipping ingredients and place on toothpicks (because the rest is going to happen fast)

  • On medium heat, melt butter in pan (I set the handles on my cutting board to hold it)

  • Add garlic, shallots, salt, and pepper until slightly bubbly, then reduce heat to low

  • Add a drop of lemon juice and a splash of white wine and stir for 10 seconds

  • Add one handful of cheese and let melt, then add a second handful of cheese

  • If you think it is too thick, add a splash of heavy cream (optional)

  • Leave on the lowest stovetop temp and dip away!
